Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 11, 2026
Receipt Lookup is operated by Preordain, Inc. ("we," "us"). This policy describes how we handle personal information in the Receipt Lookup website and app (the "Service"). Questions: support@receiptlookup.com.
Information we collect
- Account information: when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture. When you set up two-step sign-in, which you must do before connecting a card, we keep a record that an authenticator app is set up for your account.
- Card accounts and transactions from Plaid: when you connect a card, Plaid sends us the name of your bank, the account's name, type and last four digits, and its transactions, starting from up to two years before you connect the card: date, amount, merchant, description, category and, when available, location. We also store the rest of the record Plaid provides for each transaction, such as whether it is pending, whether it was made in person or online, the merchant's website and logo, and payment details like a reference number or payee. Plaid's replies also include the account's balance and credit limit, which we do not save. Plaid also gives us an access token for the connection, which we store and use to fetch that card's transactions. It is not your bank password, and when you disconnect, Plaid cancels it and we delete it. You enter your bank sign-in details with Plaid or your bank. We never see or store them. Plaid's practices are described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
- Waitlist information: the email address you enter to ask for early access and, if you choose to answer them, your answers to two questions about what you want help with and your budget.
- Usage information: device and log information, such as your IP address and browser type, recorded by the services that host the Service.
- Cookies and browser storage: we set only the cookies the Service needs to work: cookies that sign you in and keep you signed in, and one that holds the email address you entered on the waitlist form for one day, so your answers on the next page can be saved with it. The page where you connect a card also saves a Plaid set-up token in your browser's local storage, so the connection can resume after your bank sends you back. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies. Plaid's connection window is loaded from Plaid, which may set its own cookies; see Plaid's policy linked above.
Features that are not available yet
We are building features that will handle more information. Each one only applies once it exists and you choose to use it:
- Statement uploads: account and transaction details from statements you upload.
- Payment card details you provide, which we would store and use to retrieve receipts from merchants.
- Email data: if you connect Gmail, we would read messages related to your purchases, such as receipts and order confirmations.
- Receipts and merchant data: receipts and order information from your inbox, from merchant accounts you connect, and from merchants we contact for you.
- A browser extension that helps collect receipts from merchant websites.
We will update this policy before any of these is switched on.
How we use information
To provide, maintain, secure and improve the Service, including showing your transactions and, once that feature is available, finding their receipts; to communicate with you; and to comply with law.
How we share information
- With service providers that run the Service for us: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (website hosting), Plaid (card connections) and Google (sign-in). If you email us, your message reaches us through Cloudflare, which forwards mail sent to our addresses, and is kept in our mailbox at Google.
- With merchants and their service providers, to request your receipts, once that feature is available.
- When required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- With others at your direction.
To show merchant logos beside your transactions, your browser loads them from Plaid and from Google's icon service, so those services can see which merchant logos are requested.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your consent
We ask before we collect anything from your Google account or your cards: you agree to this policy when you sign in, and again when you connect a card. Connecting a card is always your choice, and you can undo it at any time.
Google user data
Receipt Lookup's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account information, connected card accounts and transactions for as long as your account is open, because the Service needs them to work.
- Disconnecting a card: in the app, open Settings, then Manage cards, and choose Disconnect next to the bank. This disconnects every card that came with that bank sign-in. We end the connection at Plaid and delete those card accounts and their transactions from our database right away. If you can't get into the app, email us and we will do it for you.
- Deleting your account: email support@receiptlookup.com from the address you sign in with. We end any remaining card connections and delete everything tied to your account, including any waitlist entry under the same email address, within 30 days.
- Waitlist: we keep your waitlist entry until you ask us to delete it. Email support@receiptlookup.com from the address you signed up with and we delete it within 30 days.
Deleted information can remain in our database provider's routine backups for a limited time before it is overwritten.
Security
Information is encrypted when it travels between you, us and our service providers, and when it is stored in our database. Access to stored information is restricted, and connecting a card requires two-step sign-in. No system is completely secure.
Children
The Service is for people 18 and older.
Changes
We may update this policy and will post the updated version here.
